Providence Health & Services Software Developer 3 in Salem, Oregon


Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Software Developer 3 to our location in Salem, OR.

This role provides front-end, web development expertise as a part of a self-organizing software development and delivery team. This includes working directly with customers, business stakeholders and developers to build highly functional, scalable web application views, UI frameworks and paradigms. A Front-end Application Developer works with minimum supervision, stays up-to-date on technologies and libraries, recommends solutions and designs, and integrates new ideas as incremental steps into an existing system. Success in this position requires authoritative subject matter expertise in the areas of HTML, JavaScript, client frameworks (Vue.JS, Angular or React), and CSS (SASS/SCSS or LESS). Experience with micro front-end architectures and microservices is ideal.

The Front-end Application Developer focuses on building user interfaces with responsiveness and ease of use as primary considerations. Collaboratively designs and implements interfaces that improve efficiency and usability within new and existing functional areas.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Actively engage as part of an Agile team with shared ownership of the final product

  • Drive new user stories and initiatives to completion (full delivery to end user)

  • Leverage your technical expertise in the area of front-end development for the betterment of the entire team

  • Apply good development practices such as refactoring, test-driven development, and pair programming

  • Work directly with end users and stakeholders to understand their needs

  • Deliver real user value quickly and incrementally

  • Apply collaborative critical thinking and problem solving

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the healthcare administration domain


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate Degree plus 6 years of demonstrated software development experience in an enterprise environment OR;

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 4 years of demonstrated software development experience in an enterprise environment OR 6 year degree plus 2 years of demonstrated software development experience in an enterprise environment

  • 8 years demonstrated software development experience in an enterprise environment
